Hi Boys and Girls.
This is Lanny again, one of Santa’s elves. I have some grave news to bring you today. Santa has not blogged for the last several days because he has been seriously injured in an accident.
On Thursday night, there was a very bad blizzard here in the North Pole. This caused some damage to most of the buildings. Damage is assessed at 500 elf work hours. The stables, which are home to all the Reindeer had huge chunks of the roof ripped off from the strong force of the wind. This left holes which needed to be fixed immediately so the reindeer would not be cold. Santa was the only person that was heavy enough to go outside and not be blown away by the wind. Us elves are too light, and would be picked up like leaves on a windy day. Who knows where we would end up.
Santa erected a ladder in the middle of the storm to patch the roof. He got halfway up the ladder when a big gust of wind almost knocked him off. Santa tried very hard to hold on to the ladder and did so very well. He got to the holes and started to repair them. Just then a huge gust of wind blew Santa and the ladder off the roof. Santa, who has been trained on how to fall in case of slippery roofs braced himself for the tumble. Unfortunately the ladder was blown off the roof with him. The latter fell on Santa and broke his ankle. We heard Santa go
“WOOOAAAHHH!…UH-OH!…YOWERS!….SCRATCH…WHIP….THUNK!!!”.
We asked him if he was ok? He told us that he just fell off the roof!!! “Luckily, there was lots of snow to pad my fall.” I should be on my feet in no time.”
The barn has a very high roof reaching 40 feet, this is so the reindeer have a place to practice and train for flying indoors. Santa’s lucky he only broke ankle.
As soon as Santa was hurt, the ERT (Elf Response Team) was called to the scene, they arrived within 50 seconds, they put him on a stretcher and brought him to the Helpful Elf Loving Practitioner Centre or as we say in the North Pole, the HELP Centre. The Elf doctors quickly administered a generous dose of hot chocolate and took x-rays.
It was confirmed that Santa has broken his ankle.
He was put on a day dose of 20 hot chocolates to stop the pain. Mrs. Claus has been said to be taking great care of him.
We are very sad to report that we still don’t know if he’ll be able to fly the sleigh this year, this broken ankle might slow him down too much.
I will keep you updated as I find out more.

I have great news! A friend of mine has heard from a reliable source that Hot Chocolate combined with iced sugar cookies is a sure cure for anyone residing at the North Pole. Please kept in mind this “magic” seems to only work on North Pole residents, and regular humans such as myself should always seek medical assistance if we think our ankle is broken.

Cherokee (my granddaughter) and I almost cried when we read the terrible news.
We hope you will be up and around in a few weeks. But, we know first hand how bad a broken ankle can be. A few years ago I broke my ankle and had to have surgery on both sides with screws everywhere. Cherokee helped take care of me.
